AuthNow Privacy Policy

Effective Date: December-01-2024

At AuthNow, we take user privacy very seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, store, and protect the information collected through our QR code scanning application, designed to authenticate products and detect fraudulent activities, such as duplicated QR codes. By using our application, you agree to the terms described in this Policy.

  1. Information We Collect

    1.1 Geolocation Data

    • If you grant the necessary permissions, we collect GPS location data from your mobile device to identify where a QR code is scanned.
    • If GPS location is not shared, we may derive approximate geolocation information through your IP address.

    1.2 Technical Information

    • We collect data about your device, operating system, app version, and other technical details to ensure proper functionality.

    1.3 QR Code Scan Data

    • When you scan a QR code, we collect the information contained in the code, including unique identifiers linked to the product, along with the date and time of the scan.

    1.4 Aggregated and Anonymized Data

    • The data collected is processed anonymously and aggregated for statistical purposes. We do not collect information that directly or indirectly identifies a specific user.
  2. How We Use the Information

2.1 Primary Purpose: Authentication and Fraud Prevention

    • Location data is used to detect QR code duplications that may indicate counterfeiting or misuse. For example, if the same QR code is scanned from multiple geographic locations in a short period, a potential fraud alert is triggered.

    2.2 Service Improvement

    • We analyze usage and performance data to enhance functionality, security, and user experience.

    2.3 Legal Compliance and Protection

    • Information may be used to comply with applicable laws, legal investigations, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of AuthNow, our users, or others.
  3. How We Store and Protect Information

    3.1 Data Retention

    • Records related to QR code scans and location data are securely stored in our databases for a maximum of one year. After this period, the data is permanently deleted.

    3.2 Data Security

    • We use technical, organizational, and administrative measures to safeguard information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. This includes encryption, restricted access, and regular audits of our systems.

    3.3 Anonymization

    • All collected data is stored in a way that cannot be linked to an individual user. We do not collect or store names, addresses, phone numbers, or other personally identifiable information.
  4. With Whom We Share Information

    4.1 Authorized Third Parties

    • We do not share data with third parties except in the following circumstances:
      • When required to comply with legal obligations or governmental requests.
      • When necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of AuthNow or others.

    4.2 Service Providers

    • We may use service providers to assist with data storage or analysis. These providers are subject to strict confidentiality obligations and cannot use the information for purposes other than those specified by AuthNow.
  5. User Rights

    5.1 Access and Correction

    • You have the right to request information about the data collected by our application. If you wish to do so, please contact us using the information provided at the end of this policy.

    5.2 Data Deletion

    • Although records are automatically deleted after one year, you may request the early deletion of your anonymized data by contacting us.

    5.3 Withdrawal of Consent

    • You can revoke consent for location data collection at any time by disabling location access in your device's settings.
  6. Data Relating to Minors

Our application is not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we discover that we have collected information from a minor under 13 without parental consent, we will promptly delete such information.

  1. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. We will notify you of any significant changes through the app or other appropriate means before they take effect. We recommend reviewing this policy regularly.
